Automotive film can be classified into four categories:
The first type of automotive film is coating and compound process film, whose main role is to block the strong sunlight. This type of automotive film was produced earlier, basically not having the function of insulation. It's called sun paper in the early time as well as tea paper.
The second type of automotive film is tinted film. The tinted film seen in the market, largely made by deep dyeing process-- to combine the deep dyeing method and heat absorption agent-- can achieve the effect of insulation by absorbing the infrared rays in the sun. However, it also absorbs visible light, resulting in small penetration of visible light. On top of its own process limit, it has poor clarity. Another major weakness of such film is its bad insulation and it is easy to fade, while the price is relatively inexpensive.
The third type of automotive film is vacuum heat evaporation film. It's made using vacuum heat evaporation process-- the aluminum layer evaporated on the substrate-- to achieve heat insulation. This film is also commonly referred to metal film with more lasting heat insulation, but the weakness lies in the low clarity, affecting the visual comfort. The other prominent weakness is its high reflectivity.
The fourth type of automotive film is metal magnetron sputtering film. This film, the most sophisticated and delicate glass film, was first produced in the late 1990s and experienced a variety of technological reforms. It's made by the principle of electric and magnetic fields with their fast speed and great strength to evenly sputter metal particles on high-tension PET substrate. Magnetron sputtering process products have not only a very good metal texture and stable insulation performance, but also high clarity and low reflectivity and lasting color which other processes can not achieve.
